“Home for the Holidays”
Saturday, December 10th
This Saturday, September 24, 2011, LDS women around the globe will gather in various places for the general Relief Society meeting, broadcast live from the LDS Conference Center, in Salt Lake City, Utah. LDS women are encouraged to participate in this meeting from wherever they are.
Our Stake will meet at the Palm Harbor building at 6:30
Dinner will be served and we will also have a small program called "An Evening of 100 Dresses"
If you so choose, you can bring a new or gently worn outfit. Outfits will be donated to two local charities
to assist women in need of clothing for the purpose of obtaining a job etc.
This is strictly optional!
I'm not sure that I've ever missed the general Relief Society broadcast. And this year, with the release of the new book, Daughters in My Kingdom: The History and Work of Relief Society, I'm more excited that ever to hear what these inspired women have to say to us. I also believe the messages delivered in this meeting are important to all women!
When I consider the great influence that the women of the LDS Church can have on other women, I think of these prophetic words...
"Much of the major growth that is coming to the Church in the last days will come because many of the good women of the world (in whom there is often such an inner sense of spirituality) will be drawn to the Church in large numbers. This will happen to the degree that the women of the Church reflect righteousness and articulateness in their lives and to the degree that the women of the Church are seen as distinct and different -- in happy ways -- from the women of the world." Spencer W. Kimball
May each one of us, in our own very personal way, do our part to bring these prophetic words to pass...
We are having a ward pioneer day celebration July 23rd from 5:00-7:30 pm! It will be a wonderful time to pay tribute to those saints who left their homes to settle the west. Dress in “pioneer” attire and bring your friends and family! We will have: dinner, a “walk”, and games. For the “walk”, decorate your bike, wagon or cart. You can do this as an individual or family. If you do not have a bike, wagon, or cart, you can still walk with the others. It will not be a long walk so everyone should be able to join in!
Please sign up for any food items you would like to bring!
Also, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will be joined by Broadway stars Brian Stokes Mitchell and Linda Eder for the Church’s Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert, which will be broadcast via the Church satellite system, the Internet, and other media on July 23, 2011.
We had a delightful bonus meeting with Addie Meade! She is such a fun spunky woman with a gorgeous home and yard. Thank you Addie for sharing your secrets! It was a fabulous evening! Thank you to all who came and supported her and this fun night.
We enjoyed cheesecake and punch by the pool…
Each home is decorated with memories over the years, it was interesting to see and learn from Addie where she has been, and how that has impacted her decorating…She is also a thrift store, garage sale, estate sale GURU who sees a finished project before it’s even started…Here is a painting that re-painted to match the colors of a room in her home…
Her home is decorated in French Country and it seems that her house never ends! There were so many rooms!
She has designed and sewn all pillows and curtains…
If you missed this night, Addie has already said she would love to help anyone with ideas on how to decorate on a budget. Thanks again Addie!
"Songwriter Sally DeFord's heartwarming lyrics are coupled with beautiful images of motherhood from celebrated artists to offer an encouraging reminder that the mission of motherhood is divine. This reflective tribute lets mothers know just how much their efforts are appreciated and how much they are truly loved. Book and CD available at: www.seagullbook.com or http://www.deseretbook.com/."

How do temples remind us of the Savior’s love? What priesthood keys enable temple work to be done today? From the steps of the Salt Lake Temple, President Henry B. Eyring bears testimony that the Savior’s love for us and our love for Him is reflected in the temple.
What can bring peace to the world? How can we find happiness in this life? Standing at the feet of a statue portraying the Savior, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf answers those questions.
Why are family history work and the redemption of the dead so important? What key role does the Savior play in these profoundly important efforts? Speaking from the chapel at the Kirtland Temple, President Boyd K. Packer answers those questions.
Does our obedience to the Savior’s law and commandments make a difference to others? How can we find happiness through this obedience? Elder L. Tom Perry answers those questions by sharing an experience he had as a young man.
